The invention concerns a machining cell for machining of a piece (P). The machining cell comprises a machining robot (100), material being removed from the surface of the piece by means of a tool (60) attached to said robot (100) in order to shape the surface of the piece as desired. The machining cell comprises a workbench (10), to which the piece (P) to be machined is attached for the time of machining. The machining cell comprises a system of measurement (90) which measures the piece to be machined, by means of which system the precise dimensions of the surface to be machined are measured. The equipment comprises a central computer (70), to which the measurement data received concerning the piece (P) to be machined are transferred from the system of measurement (90). The commands to the control unit (50) of the machining robot are produced based on the measurement data obtained concerning the piece and produced by the system of measurement (90).
