The static release of an appliance for protecting against fault currents comprises an auxiliary supply source 34 connected to the conductor 18, 20 of the network by a connection circuit 36. In at least one of the wires of the connection circuit 36 is inserted a socket 44 able to receive a plug 46 ensuring disconnection of the supply source 34 upon removal of the plug 46. A range of plugs 46 having resistances of different value allows adaptation to various network voltages. <IMAGE>
