PURPOSE:To eliminate components for connection and connecting job and to make a battery lightweight and to reduce cost by using an expanded grid embedded in a partition as grid for a positive plate and a negative plate. CONSTITUTION:An expanded grid 3 is embedded in a partition 2 in a mold container 1, and part of the expanded grid 3 is projected onto both sides of the partition 2. Active materials are held with the projections to form a positive plate 4 and a negative plate 5. The end 6 of each container in which both plates 4, 5 are accommodated is melted and melt-bonded with a separator interposed between faced positive plate 4 and negative plate 5. An electrolyte is poured from an upper opening 8, and a vent 9 is placed, then a cover 10 is melt-bonded to the container 1 to form a unit cell. Electrical connection between cells is made unnecessary because the grid embedded in the partition is used as the grids of the positive plate and the negative plate of both cells and electrolyte in both cells are separated with the partition. |
