PURPOSE:To improve the graininess and the sharpness and the presursor characteristics of a sensitive material by incorporating a silver halide particle having a specified structure and a development inhibitor-releasing compd. in the sensitive material. CONSTITUTION:A tabular particle of AgBrI or AgBrICl which has a multiple layer structure composed of a core and one or more layers of shells, is incorporated in the silver halide particle contg. in one or more layers of emulsion layers of the sensitive material in an amount of >=60% of the total projected area of the silver halide particle. And, the AgI content of the core is specified by 7mol.% - a solid solution boundary, and the AgI content of the shell of the outermost layer is specified by 0 or <=6mol.%. And, the development inhibitor-releasing compd. (for example, a compd. shown by the formula) is incorporated in one or more of the emulsion layer. In the formula, A, L1, B and L2 are each a group capable of being released by allowing it to react with the oxidant of a developing agent in succession, DI is a development retarder (its precursor), (l)-(n) is 0 or 1. |
