PURPOSE:To obtain a battery having high output, large capacity, and compact size by using manganese dioxide as a positive electrode, a metal as a negative active material, and a cold molten salt prepared by mixing alkyl pyridinium halide and a halide of the metal used as the negative active material as an electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:Manganese dioxide is used as a positive electrode, a metal as a negative active material, and a cold molten salt prepared by mixing alkali pyridinium halide and a halide of the metal used as the negative active material as an electrolyte. The manganese dioxide is natural manganese dioxide, electrolytic manganese dioxide, or chemical manganese dioxide. The metal for the negative active material is lithium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, aluminium, or iron. In the alkyl pyridinium halide for the electrolyte, an alkyl group having 1-12 carbon atoms is used because the cold molten salt is easily obtained. As the metal halide, chloride, bromide, or iodide is used. |
