A snow chain arrangement for use on wheels with tyres, e.g. the rear drive wheels of motor vehicles, esp. lorries, includes a protective device on rollers, an arrangement for moving the device, and a running section surface. The sliding protective device consists of two cable sections with spacing slats and lateral chain sections between them. The cables are expandable over certain areas and the lower rollers act as tensioning rollers. The cables are pref. plastics coated. ADVANTAGE - The arrangement is easy to apply and remove, and can be put into service without stopping.
