FIELD: measurement technology, mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to field of measurement and test of articles, for instance, of mechanical engineering having curvilinear surfaces. Method provides for installation and illumination of article 3 with point source 1 of luminous radiation fitted with system of scanning of beam to plane corresponding to tested surface, for detection of luminous radiation reflected from article on its position-sensitive plane by detector 2. Later procedure of measurement is repeated in new position of detector 2 with invariable parameters of scanning of beam (preset plane of scanning, initial position of beam, rate of scanning of beam). Data on coordinates of reflected radiation on position-sensitive plane of detector 2 during first and second measurements are entered into address indication unit of computer 4. Finally coordinates of corresponding points - points corresponding to one and the same position of light beam on tested surface arc chosen. Conversion coefficients used to reconstruct true profile of section of article corresponding to preset plane of scanning of beam are calculated on basic of these data.
