The lining for a tank is made of separate, connected parts (33) close together on at least one spacer-arm (30) which is joined to the tank's inside (31) to form a sealed part-control-compartment (35). The lining consists of first (34) and second (37) layers of parts jointed together. The tank's inner lining consists of an inner and outer casing enclosing the control compartment, and made of pre-fabricated units (1) each consisting of metal plates (3, 4). The join (8) between two adjacent units is tightly covered by an extra wall (9) with flat interfaces (11). Each unit has at least one through-hole (6) leading into the interior, and opening into a transition space (12) formed by the extra wall. ADVANTAGE - After the parts have been fitted together to form a control compartment, the latter is tested for leaks which are quickly and accurately indicated.
