Compsns. are aq. solns. contg. 0.2-2 M KH tartrate, 0.2-2 M K2CO3 and 0.1-10 g/l of a surfactant. The compsns. also contain up to 10 g/l benzoic acid as preservative and are adjusted to pH 8-12 with tartaric acid to prevent corrosion of steel. ADVANTAGE - The compsns. have good wetting and impregnating properties, do not freeze at temps. above -30 deg.C, and have good storage stability. The ingredients are inexpensive, have low toxicity and are easily transported in powder form
