PURPOSE:To smoothly stop and restart driving of a stepping motor without hindering sheet conveying performance and to prevent sagging of the sheet between each roller pair. CONSTITUTION:After a sheet which has been conveyed by a roller pair 32 driven by a stepping motor is started to be conveyed by a roller pair 33 positioned downstream of the roller pair 32, feeding of an electric current to the stepping motor is cut off to bring the roller pair 32 into a following rotation state. When a next sheet is to be conveyed by means of restart of the roller pair 32 while the roller pair 32 is in the following rotation state, current for rotation to immediately cope with a predetermined conveying speed is fed to the stepping motor. Further, in the case where a succeeding sheet is to be conveyed at a small interval, a current for rotation to immediately cope with a predetermined conveying speed is fed to the stepping motor after a lapse of a specified time after the roller pair 32 is brought into the following rotation state. |
