PURPOSE: To minimize information to be recorded in an undo transaction at the time of the occurrence of a crash or a failure. CONSTITUTION: It is discriminated whether a write block includes data which is not committed or not (1010) for the purpose of optimizing an undo log with a write-ahead log protocol. If it includes this data, an undo buffer is written in the undo log and a redo buffer is written in a redo log (1020). Thereafter or if it doesn't include this data (1010), the block is written in a permanent storage device (1030).
