The invention relates to a device for the rinsing of body cavities with a fluid, with a storage vessel for the rinsing fluid, a pump unit which pumps the rinsing fluid from the storage vessel via an instrument into the body cavity to be treated, a collecting container for the rinsing fluid flowing out of the body cavity, and measuring means which determine the difference between rinsing fluid conveyed in and that flowing out. The invention is characterised in that an electronic evaluation unit determines from the output signal of the measuring means the amount of rinsing fluid lost and also the time rate at which the amount lost changes.
