PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed lead-acid battery having a long service life by eliminating the insufficient charge of a negative electrode. SOLUTION: An organic substance oxidized at positive electrode potential is added to a positive electrode active material or an electrolyte, thereby keeping the substantial self-discharge rate of a positive electrode higher than the substantial self-discharge speed of a negative electrode. The organic substance, when added to the positive electrode active material, preferably has a mass ratio between 0.1% and 2%. Also, the organic substance, when added to the electrolyte, is preferably made to fall within a range for preventing the electrolyte from being not fluidized. |
