PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture correction processor for generating a picture without the rattling of an edge, which occurs at the time of multivalue/binary conversion. SOLUTION: The picture correction processor obtains the picture signals of five lines, which are delayed at every line, from the picture signals in a line memory 11. The picture signals are multivalued picture signals which are edge-emphasized. Line pictures are detected with the window of 5×5 picture elements in a line picture detection circuit 12. When the line pictures are detected, the average value of the density of a detected line picture part is calculated in an average density calculation circuit 13. Then, notified picture element density is substituted for an average density value in a density substitution circuit 15.
