PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine impurities in a carbon material accurately and efficiently. SOLUTION: A carbon material containing at least one kind of element selected from a group of As, Sb, Se, F, S, P and Cl as impurities is conditioned to have particle size of 710μm or less and then it is sampled to ganpishi thus obtaining a sample 7. The sample 7 is set in an enclosed pressure container, i.e., a cylinder 1, and oxygen is pressure fed under presence of water as an agent 9 for capturing the impurities. It is then burnt and decomposed in order to capture the impurities in the water and then the impurities are determined.
