A pin brushing machine consists of a frame (2), which is hermetically sealed by a removable cover (6), and a brushing system including a pin and nut brushing mechanism which is movable and adjustable w.r.t. the frame (2), movable and adjustable pin clamping and rotating mechanisms (61, 62, 81), movable and adjustable nut holding devices (100), a first control system for controlling displacement of the brushing mechanism, a second control system for controlling clamping of the pin, a third control system for controlling displacement of the clamped pin relative to the brushing mechanism, a waste retaining device (5) and control and operating devices supplied by a single (preferably pneumatic) energy source. Preferably, the cover (6) consists of 'Makrolon' (sic) and the waste retaining device (5) is a diamond tip-type stainless steel trough positioned in and sealed to the frame (2) below the operating plane of the brushing mechanism.
