PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable accurate estimation of the level of residual ink by providing a memory device which gives an ink droplet count on the basis of a usable quantity of ink and an ink level sensing circuit which gives an ink level sensing output showing a sensed quantity of ink. SOLUTION: An ink vessel 110 of an ink supply station is equipped with an ink reservoir 110A, an ink level sensing circuit 110C and an integral type ink cartridge memory 110D which is an information storage device storing the information on a usable quantity of ink. The ink vessel 110 is put in mutual electrical connection with a printer microprocessor controller 80. The printer microprocessor controller 80 estimates a residual quantity of ink in the ink vessel 110 continuously. Thereby preestimate of a state of shortage of ink in the ink vessel 110 is enabled and printing can be stopped on the occasion when the ink vessel 110 almost becomes empty only with a small quantity of ink left therein. |
