PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To industrially obtain a fine spherical glass in large quantities at a low cost without using a melting furnace by dispersing stock powder required to form a glass contg. specified amts. of TiO2 and BaO and other metal oxides in a combustible liq. and spray-burning the resultant slurry. SOLUTION: Stock powder required to form a Ti-Ba glass contg. 40-100 wt.%, in total, of 10-70 wt.% TiO2 and BaO and other metal oxides such as SiO2 , Al2 O2 , ZrO2 , CaO, MgO, ZnO, Li2 O, Na2 O, K2 O and B2 O3 and preferably having <=3μm, especially 0.01-3μm, more especially 0.01-1μm average particle diameter is dispersed in a combustible liq. such as kerosene and the resultant slurry is spray-burned to obtain the objective fine spherical glass having a refractive index of >=1.9.
