PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable recording desired information in a minute area small enough exceeding a diffraction limit in a high density and at high speed regardless of the kinds of recording media by making a scattering body which is fixed by a holding member and whose size is equal to or smaller than that of a wavelength of a light beam to be in close proximity to a medium, irradiating the body with a converged light and using the light scattered by the body as a heat source. SOLUTION: A probe 100 is constituted of a minute scattering body 102 whose size is equal to or smaller than that of the wavelength of a light beam and a holding member 101 holding the body 102. At first, scattered light is generated by converging a laser beam for recording on the body 102. Then, the recording of information with respect to a recording medium is performed by selectively and indirectly heating the tip of the body 102 or a local area being on the medium which is roughly the same order in size as the tip with the scattered light. Thus, a high density recording with respect to a magneto-optical recording medium and a phase transition recording medium, that is, the high density recording with respect to the minute area small enough exceeding the diffraction limit can be realized. |
