VEHICLE ACCELERATING/DECELERATING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly grasp the driver's will on the acceleration and deceleration to reflect the same on the travel of a vehicle. SOLUTION: A driver rotates and operates a rotary switch 10 mounted on a steering wheel 12 in the accelerating direction (CW) or a decelerating direction (CCW). Two pulse signals (A phase, B phase) of offset timing, are outputted corresponding to the rotation of the switch. The switch rotating direction and the switch rotating speed can be known from both pulse signals. The acceleration or deceleration is performed corresponding to the rotating direction. The vehicle is controlled so that the acceleration or deceleration is performed corresponding to the rotating speed. Accordingly the driver's will on the acceleration and deceleration can be properly reflected on the travel of the vehicle.
