PURPOSE: A method for recording a tape of a VCR recorded an advertisement broadcasting sensing signal therein is provided for a user to offer video recording editing information in advance by detecting a blanking signal being existed on a video tape for a predetermined time and deciding a recording or not of an advertisement signal and recording an advertisement broadcasting sensing signal on a portion of a blank signal in accordance with the decided advertisement signal. CONSTITUTION: A micro computer is proceeds to an advertisement recognition signal recording function setting deciding stage(S2) from an initial stage(S1) and judges whether an advertisement recognition signal recording function for recording an advertisement recognition signal on a tape is set by a user. If the function is not set, the mode set in current is executed(S3). If the function is set, a blank signal is detected from a video tape being reproduced in current(S4). It is detected whether the blank signal being detected in current is continuously detected at short interval(S5). If the blank signal is continuously detected at short interval, a VISS signal is recorded on a control area of the tape detecting the blank signal and the VISS signal is counted. It is detected whether the number of the VISS signal is reached to a predetermined number(S6). A temporary advertisement recognition signal is recorded "n"th control area of the blank signal(S7). In addition, a tape terminal portion deciding stage(S8), an advertisement recognition signal terminal portion recording stage(S9), a rewind searching stage(S10), an advertisement broadcasting starting position detecting stage(S11), and an advertisement recognition signal starting portion recording stage(S12) are processed.
