PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quantum cipher transmitter with a small light intensity loss during quantum cipher adjustment. SOLUTION: An optical pulse made incident on the transmitter has two optical pulses, a TE polarized wave and a TM polarized wave to a phase modulator 8. The polarization plane of the TE polarized wave in the optical pulse is rotated to the TM polarized wave, and the polarization plane of the TM polarized wave is rotated to the TE polarized wave, by a Faraday mirror 7, respectively, and reflected and outputted from the transmitter. The optical pulse of TM polarized wave is detoured from the phase modulator 8 by using two pieces of a polarizing beam splitter 5 and a polarizing beam splitter 6. Only the optical pulse of TE polarized wave is passed through the phase modulator 8. |
