PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier which is excellent in wear resistance of a coated layer without impairing prevention of spending of toner to a coating resin and is capable of maintaining stable amount of triboelectric charge and an image of high quality without an edge phynomennon, for a long period of time. SOLUTION: The electrostatic charge image developing carrier is contained in a two-component developer which contains the carrier and a toner having at least a resin particle containing a coloring agent, and an external additive. This electrostatic charge image developing carrier is coated with a resin and the resin layer contains 4 wt.% or less of particles selected from among surface- treated magnetite, maghematite and hematite particles with average diameter of <=0.1μm.
