PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength multiplex optical transmission system which reduces the influence of crosstalks, without increasing the wavelength spacings of optical signals to be multiplexed. SOLUTION: A transmitter 2 modulates carriers different in frequency with two signals S1, S2 to be transmitted and converts the modulated signals into optical signals which differ in frequency. A multiplexer 8 multiplexes the optical signals and transmits the multiplexed optical signals to a receiver station 3 over an optical fiber 4. The receiver station 3 extracts optical signals having desired wavelengths from the received optical signals, O/E converter 10a, 10b convert them into electrical signals, and electrical bandpass filters 11a, 11b selectively take out signals in desired frequency bands involved in the electrical signals, thereby transmitting/receiving optical signals with little crosstalks. |
