PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main spindle clamp mechanism for a milling head which makes a high-grade finishing face with a high dynamic rigidity and without chattering in which a drawn line is unnoticeable. SOLUTION: The main clamp mechanism for the milling head 1 is constituted as follows. A rotor of a built-in motor is fitted to the center of a main spindle. Both ends of the main spindle are axially and freely rotatably supported. A tapered opening part is provided to the tip of the main spindle. A fixed tool or a rotary tool is fixed to the opening part. When the fixed tool is mounted, the front part of the main spindle and the rear part of the main spindle are respectively clamped. The main spindle clamp mechanism is characterized in that the main spindle clamp mechanism A at the front part of the main spindle is provided with a tooth coupling and the main spindle clamp mechanism B at the rear part of the main spindle is provided with a wedge-shaped piston.
