PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for polishing an end face of a plate member, which saves on time and labor in polishing period adjustment etc., and polishes the end face of the plate member without variation in polishing quantity. SOLUTION: The device for polishing the end face of the plate member has a feeding mechanism for feeding a fixing means to which a plate member is fixed, an abutment detecting means for detecting abutment of the end face of the plate member moving forward on an abrasive cloth, and a transfer amount detecting means for detecting a transfer amount of the plate member via the feeding mechanism and the fixing means, from a reference location at which abutment information is received from the abutment detecting means.
