摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve concentricity and connecting strength of two wheel shafts in the case of connecting the two wheel shafts in a bearing device for a split type abrasive wheel by which a grinding wheel can be easily changed. SOLUTION: A pair of right and left radial hydrostatic bearing units 42, 43 are provided in front of a wheel head 34. A pair of right and left wheel spindles 45, 52 are rotatably supported by the fluid pressurized by the units 42, 43. In addition, the wheel shaft 45 is supported by a thrust bearing mechanism 44 in the direction of thrust. Spindle connecting mechanisms 60 are built in the opposed end portions of the wheel shafts 45, 52 to separably connect both spindles. A tapered cylinder 61 projects from the end portion of the wheel shaft 45. The tapered bore 65 formed on the end portion of the wheel shaft 52 is closely fitted on the tapered cylinder 61. In addition, the right-angled end surface 52t of the wheel spindle 52 is brought into area-contact with the right-angled end surface 49t radially extending from the base portion of the tapered cylinder 61 of the wheel shaft 45. As a result, both of the wheel shafts 45, 52 are connected in the state of the double surface contact by the tapered surface fitting and the contact of right-angled end surfaces.
