A process for manufacturing an Mn-Zn system ferrite capable of being used for high integration of a magnetic head material is disclosed. A ferrite powder has ZnO amount of 5-10 mol % more than ZnO amount of burnt compressed powder core composite. The ferrite powder is at least one selected from the group consisting SiO2, Ta2O5, and Nb2O5 as an auxiliary component. The at least one component contains 0-2 weight % with respect to 100 weight % of the compressed powder core composite. A compressed powder core is inserted into the ferrite powder and is burnt therein.
