An updating program of the multimedia contents and a system using category information by setting up category information are provided to provide multimedia contents information desired by a user and to provide updated multimedia contents information. Multimedia contents output menu is selected on a menu screen of a terminal(S31). It determines whether updated information is(S32). If so, the multimedia contents information is received and updated(S33). The updated multimedia contents information of a cache memory area is loaded as a main memory area(S34). The thumbnail image which is the multimedia contents information is outputted to the display window (S35).
