The machine (1) has a voucher detecting unit (5) including a lighting element for lighting a detection region of a voucher issuing element. The detecting unit has a camera e.g. digital camera, for optical detection of the detection region. The lighting element and the camera are arranged at a side of the issuing element turned away from a customer. A detection voucher is provided by a goods detecting unit (9) and issued to the issuing element, in a flat manner. The camera detects the detection voucher. An independent claim is also included for a method for identifying a purchase shopping cart at an automatic payment machine.
