The device has an extraction section for counter current wash of sediments by solvent. A wash stage removes the solvent from the treated sediments. A filter is provided for separation of a washing liquid from the sediments. A distillation apparatus is provided for extracting bitumen/oil from the sediments. The apparatus is provided for separation of solvent and water. Solid is moved within the device up to the filter stage only by gravitational force and flowing liquids. The solvent is selected from one of acetone or solvent mixture with 50 percentages of alcohols and/or ketone.
