PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To start a reduced cylinder operation more rapidly while assuring a superior comfortable riding feeling.SOLUTION: When a difference between a target intake amount set more than that of normal full cylinder operation and an intake amount at each of the cylinders is larger than a pre-set allowable lack amount of intake upon request of changing-over in operation from a full cylinder operation to a reduced cylinder operation, a preparation control in which the intake amount at each of the cylinders is increased and the ignition time is changed to that of more delayed angle side than the ignition time of normal full cylinder operation is carried out and when a difference between the intake amount at the time of reduced cylinder operation and the intake amount at each of the cylinders becomes equal to or less than the amount of allowable lack of intake, the reduced cylinder operation is started and at the same time the amount of allowable lack of intake when a shift stage is set at a high speed stage is larger than that when a shift stage is set at a low speed stage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9 |
