PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain packed cooked rice readily cookable, excellent in texture and taste by enclosing raw rice grains undergoing a prescribed washing and soaking treatment and a prescribed amount of water in a steam-permeable film, treating them under specific conditions, then tightly sealing it in a gas barrier package material. SOLUTION: The rice grains are subjected to prescribed washing and soaking treatment, combined with a prescribed amount of water and they are enclosed in a steam-permeating film made of a mixed paper of paper pulp fiber and a chemical fiber such as polyethylene fiber. The enclosed product is heated, cooked, steamed and cooled down, then tightly sealed with a gas barrier packing material such as a polyester/polyvinyl alcohol/polyethylene laminated material to produce the objective packed cooked rice. |
