PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cooling a spindle of a machine tool which achieves energy saving and inhibits heat deformation of the spindle, and to provide the machine tool.SOLUTION: In a method for cooling a spindle of a machine tool, a cooling oil cooled by a spindle cooling device 18 is supplied to a housing 11 rotatably supporting a spindle 12 in a circulation manner to cool a bearing 13 and a motor 14 for spindle rotation which generate heat as the spindle 12 rotates. In the method, when a rotation number of the spindle 12 is smaller than or equal to a predetermined rotation number and temperatures of the bearing 13 and the motor 14 for the spindle rotation, which are detected by temperature sensors 15, 6, become a predetermined temperature or lower, driving of the spindle cooling device 18 is stopped to stop supply of the cooling oil.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
