1,184,334. Spray-producers. GRAY CO. Inc. 7 March, 1967 [7 March, 1966], No. 10694/67. Heading B2F. A gum adapted to spray paint hydrostatically comprises a passage 21 to which the paint is supplied under high pressure through i fitting 20, a valve 23 located within the passage and adapted to be actuated by a trigger 15, a spray tip 14 removably mounted on the downstream end of the passage, and three diffusing pins (68), (69), (71), Fig. 2 (not shown) positioned between the valve and the tip 14. The pins are angularly spaced by 60‹ and the longitudinal axis of each pin is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the passage. The pins serve to reduce the penetration of any paint which is accidentally discharged with the tip removed. A member 84 may be rotated through 90‹ to prevent actuation of the trigger which is provided with a guard 16. A cap 26 may be removed to allow the valve 23 to be removed for cleaning or repair. The valve 23 includes a shaft 31 which carries a ball 32 at its forward end cooperating with a seat member 34. The pins are secured in bores (72-77), Fig. 4 (not shown) by silver solder. |
