1,138,469. Oxygen electrodes. LEESONA CORP. 12 Jan., 1966 [25 Jan., 1965], No. 44990/67. Divided out of 1,138,468. Heading H1B. An electrode comprises a water-impervious gas pervious membrane of a non-conductive hydrophobic fluorinated hydrocarbon polymer in contact with a catalyst layer. The polymer may be polytetrafluoroethylene, polytrifluoroethylene, polyvinyl fluoride, polyvinylidene difluoride, polytrifluorochloroethylene, or copolymers of the monomers of the above polymers with acrylonitrile, a methacrylate, or ethylene. The catalyst may be a metal of Groups IB, IIB, IV, V, VI, VII or VIII of Mendelyeev's Periodic Table, and may be in contact with a conductive metal film or screen or may have a conductor in admixture therewith. The electrodes are useful as air or oxygen depolarized electrodes. |
