1,224,952. Welding by pressure. EVG ENTWICKLUNGS - U. VERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. 20 Aug., 1969 [14 Oct., 1968], No. 41549/69. Heading B3R. A wire mesh welding machine in which the spacing of the longitudinal wires is variable, comprises pairs of electrodes 4, 6, carried by contact shoes 2, 2a, slidable along conductor rails 1, 1a below the plane of mesh advance E, and a thrust transmitting device 8 for each pair of electrodes, actuated by a beam 12. Each electrode 6 is carried by a bridge 9 pivoted to shoe 2a at 2c, and also pivoted to device 8. A guide 7 for each longitudinal wire is attached to a shoe 2a and/or to a connecting piece 5, and a transverse stop 24 on each shoe 2a, ensures that each transverse wire 19, supplied from a feeder 18, 18a, comes to rest in the correct position. Beam 12 is moved to apply the welding thrust by pivoted levers 13 actuated by a rod 14 oscillated by an eccentric 15, and each device 8 has a retractable block 11, so as to allow thrust to be applied to the desired combination of welding heads. The transverse wires are held against stops 24 by a series of levers 21, 23, at each welding head, the levers being actuated as the beam 12 reciprocates. The mesh is advanced by conveyer hooks 38. Bridges 9 may be replaced by holders (9a), Fig. 2 (not shown), the current being transmitted from the shoe to the electrode through flexible conductors (10) or by roller bearings. |
