Programme-controlled washing machine or dishwasher comprises an electric pump for the wash water, with series-connected switches dependent on time and water level for the pump drive motor arranged in one of the mains supply circuits. During filling with water, a first switch turns off the valves when the water reaches a given low level, provided it is not bridged by a time-dependent switch. If however, it is rendered inoperative by the closed time switch, a second switch for a higher water level controls the water supply. During drainage, the motor for the wash water pump is set in motion by a time switch. If drainage is required below the higher level, a second time switch must be operated to prevent further supply of water, whereby continuous or cyclic rinsing is effected. Spinning cannot begin until the low water level switch is operated. |
