1,199,988. Photographic silver halide materials. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Nov. 2, 1967 [Nov.7, 1966], No. 49903/67. Addition to 1,092,814. Heading G2C. A photographic light-sensitive silver halide material comprises a support bearing a layer of a silver halide emulsion in which the silver halide comprises at least 60 mole % of silver chloride, there being in the emulsion and/or in a contiguous layer saponin and a water-soluble block polymer of polyoxypropylene and polyoxyethylene in which the polyoxypropylene moiety has an average molecular weight of from 800 to 3000 and of which the polyoxyethylene units constitute from 10% to 70% by weight. The block polymer may contain the residue of a polyhydroxy compound, a polybasic acid, a polyamine, a polyamide or a polythiol. The emulsion may also contain chemical and spectral sensitizers, quaternary ammonium, sulphonium and phosphonium salts, hydrophilic vinyl polymers and developing agents such as 3-pyrazolidones. The material is suitable for lith development. |
