The holder mounted on the lifting gear is shaped as a gripping-jig which holds the core-boss externally. The jig has two half-shells each fixed to an arm. One of the arms is fixed and directly joined to the lifting-gear, while the other is movable and fixed by a link with the other arm. The apparatus is suitable for positioning core-pieces into radiators, boilers and engine-blocks.
