Powder mixture of (a) Ba-, Sr- and/or Pb oxide and (b) Fe oxide (where each oxide can be replaced at least partially by cpd. converted to oxide on heating) is moulded, and orientation of materials, partic. Fe cpd., is caused before sintering and during moulding so that anisotropic permanent magnets are formed on sintering. Pref. orientation of materials, in acicular or platelet form, is caused by mechanical forces on moulding or by exposure, before or during moulding, to a magnetic field. |
