The anchoring device is for wire, rod or cable type reinforcing elements, especially prestressing members and comprises a wedge socket and one or more wedge units to clamp the element in this of softer material. This material is firm enough in the compressed condition for the wedge to be only elastically deformed by the forces occurring. The wedge piece encloses the reinforcing element in the manner of one piece clamp. There are grooves on part of the exterior surface of the wedge piece, arranged and shaped to effect the intended distribution of clamping forces. The slit in the wedge piece preferably meets the edge sockets spherical surface vertically. The advantages of soft and hard wedges are combined.
