Modification of natural starch, wherein an aqueous suspension of natural starch is heated in the presence of a little surface active agent, e.g. polyoxyethylene-sorbitanmonooleate, until the starch granules have swollen. By addition of a water miscible solvent, e.g. methanol, the water and/or surface active agent is withdrawn, the modified starch is filtered off, and dried. Improved tabletting and hair shampoos. Potato starch is heated to 50 deg.C in water containing a little polyoxyethylene sorbitanmonooleate. Propanone is added to the swollen mass, the starch is filtered off, and dried at 40 deg.C. |
