1,136,177. Two part couplings. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 3 Feb., 1967 [7 Feb., 1966], No. 5315/67. Heading H2E. An electrical connector comprises generally cylindrical shells 10, 12, Fig. 2, coupled together by a rotatable nut 14 whose axial movement is restricted by a flange 16, on the shell 10, located between a shoulder 18, Fig. 4, formed on the nut, and a ring 20 secured to the nut. Relative rotation between the nut and the shell 10 is limited by a stop 34, which depends from flange 16, being held in engagement with a cut-away portion of the shoulder 18 by a wave spring 30 located between the flange and the ring 20, and the nut is locked in one of its extreme arcuate positions by a lug 40 formed on the flange 16 engaging end surface 32b of the shoulder 18 while the stop 34 engages end surface 32a. Projections 48 on sheet 12 engage helical grooves on the inner surface of the nut and in the fully engaged position the projections snap into openings 46 at the inner ends of the grooves. Correct connection is ensured by ribs 36, Fig. 3 (not shown), on the shell 10 engaging corresponding grooves (38) on the shell 12. |
