A vehicle headlamp arrangement includes at least one lamp 3 mounted in a frame 4 which is pivoted on a shaft 5 extending generally parallel to the driving direction and can be moved between a lighting position, in which the lamp projects from the vehicle body, and a retracted position in which the lamp is disposed within the body, the lamp being directed generally forwardly in both positions. A second lamp 2 may be mounted in the frame. The lamp 3 can be used for signalling when in the retracted position, the body having a plurality of slots 12 and a prism-profiled lens 13 for directing the light. The shaft 5 is driven by a motor 8 and the frame is locked in either position by solenoid-operated bolts 9, 10. |
