The invention comprises pyrazolyl esters of the formula wherein R is a straight or branched chain C 1 -C 6 alkyl radical, R<SP>1</SP> is a straight or branched chain C 1 -C 6 alkyl radical, C 1 -C 6 alkoxy, C 1 -C 6 alkylamino, or di-(C 1 -C 6 alkyl) amino group, Y is O or an imino or alkylimino group and X is O or S. They may be obtained by reacting (RY)(R<SP>1</SP>)P(:X)Hal, wherein Hal is halogen (a) with in the presence of an acid binding agent or (b) with a salt of (II), the reaction being preferably carried out in an organic solvent. The products have insecticidal and acaricidal properties and may be used in admixture with liquid or solid diluents or carriers, optionally with surface-active agents, e.g. in the form of solutions, emulsions, suspensions, powders, pastes or granulates. The compound II may be obtained by reacting with methyl hydrazine in ethanol at 70‹ to 75‹ C. |
