A mould for casting prefabricated building sections from concrete or plastics comprises a plurality of movable members which fix together defining the inside and outside of the mould and which are pivotally attached together, and can be released to remove the casting from the mould. In the embodiment illustrated, a halfsection of a bungalow with end walls 4, 5, side wall 3, base and internal partition 6 is formed. The mould sections comprise internal members 16, 17 which are attached to carriages 18 running on inclined rails 19 so that they can be removed from the moulding by rope 21 and will return to position under gravity. These sections 17, 18 are attached by tie-bars 41 and nuts to the back section 27, which is pivoted along its base. to enable it to be turned away from the moulding. Side-pieces 36, 37 attached to internal members 16, 17 are pivoted about a vertical axis and lock on to the back section 27. The base is provided by members 23, 24, which can be raised to their operating position by an hydraulic system (not shown) which also locks them in position. Wooden beams 34 may be fixed to the top of the mould so that they form roof supports in the moulding. In use the concrete or plastics material is run into the mould and allowed to set. The fastenings are undone, members 17, 18 with the attached side-pieces 36, 37, withdrawn, the back 27 folded down and the base lowered. The moulding, which is then resting on beams 24 placed on rollers 65 can then be moved out on to rollers 66 to clear the mould. Inserts such as window or door frames are placed in their position in the mould cavity before the moulding process. |
