摘要 <p>1279573 Interconnecting electrical connectors INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 15 Jan 1970 [17 Jan 1969] 1974/70 Heading B3A Apparatus for interconnecting tags on electrical connectors 1 or 2 includes a wiring tool 19 having control means, means for sequentially displaying wiring instructions and testing means for verifying that each instruction has been correctly performed. Printed circuit cards 3, 4 are provided with light guides (5) to indicate the tags to be wired, Fig. 2 (not shown). A switch 9 is closed to send a signal V to a control device 7, thereby sending a signal U to an authorizing device 8, which in turn sends a signal T to a tape reader 6. The tape reader reads the information for wiring a tag A, which information comprises seven eight-bit words and which passes via a selector 10 to seven eight-bit registers. During the reading sequence, a signal W is applied to the devices 7, 8 to maintain the tape reader control signal. A register 11 decodes the first word to identify the correct card and a register 12 determines which line of tags and, if necessary, either the left or right tag of a double row of tags, is to be illuminated. A register 13 selects the correct length of wire to be used and its type by indicating the receptacle of a container 14 in which it is to be found. Alternatively a register 16 controls the supply of wire and determines its length if the wiring is of the same type throughout. When wires have to be connected in a specified order, this is indicated by a register 17, which controls a display device 18. The tool 19 is applied to the indicated tag, which is at an electrical potential of - 2-5 volts. This potential is applied to an amplifier 20 via the tool and it controls a valve 21 in the compressed air line of the tool, which wraps the wire around the tag. At the same time a signal Y is fed to the device 8 to block the tape reader 6. When the connection is completed the last word of the wiring sequence is applied to a checking register 23 which is connected to the other registers via a link 56. If the connection is satisfactory a signal Z is applied to the device 8, but should it be faulty, a device 24 is actuated and further operation of the machine is blocked. To ensure that a connection was made when the gun touched the tag, data in the last word is stored in a register 25, which transmits a signal S to an "AND" gate 22. As the gun 19 iswithdrawn from the tag, the signal Y is cancelled, but the signal Z is maintained, when a connection is made, thereby allowing the signal T to be generated on operation of the switch 9. When the switch 9 is operated again, test information for tag A is processed simultaneously with that for tag B. If tag A is not wired the gun is not usuable, illumination of tag B stops and tag A is illuminated again. If the tag is wired satisfactorily the reader 6 is stepped as the signal T is generated.</p>
