1386977 Collapsible cases L BOLSI 1 May 1972 [3 May 1971] 20039/72 Heading B8P A box formed of separate metal sheets is assembled by means of tongue and slot connections and angular joining elements 13 that connect adjacent sides. The base 2 has depending flanges 3 provided with slots 4 and each side 6 has lugs 8 for engaging in the slots 4. Each side has flanges 7 that overlap at the corners and slots 10 in the flanges accommodate the elements 13. The lid is hinged to one side wall and rests on the other walls and may have a gasket on its lower edges to ensure a tight seal. Lower corners 9 of the sides are cut away and the slots 4 are longer than the width of the lugs 8 so that one side can be slid into abutting position against a previously erected side. The elements 13 may have a flat plate fitted thereto (Fig. 5) to cover the corner bevels 11 of adjacent sides. The elements may also have ribs (21, Fig. 6) to engage notches in the side walls and prevent relative movement and may be of nylon. In a modification (Figs. 7 and 8) the lugs 8 are preformed at 90 degrees to the sides and have slots (23) so that the lugs securely engage the slots 4 as the sides are slid into position. Holes 5 in the base secure the box in position. |
