The ground anchor for concrete, has a body (2) to which the tension members (1) are attached, and an anchor tube (3). The anchor tube (3) is of nominally constant external diameter (Da), but is formed of tube sections of different wall thickness welded together, resulting in the tube strength declining with distance from the anchor body (2). The progressive reduction in cross-section of the tube wall results in uniform axial compression over the length of the tube, avoiding loss of bond due to excessive compression adjacent to the anchor body (2). Alternate sections of the tube have saw-tooth and helical external surface forms for an effective bond with the surrounding mortar (5).
